On Vinted, a buyer sees a thumbnail before they see a price, a brand or a size. If that thumbnail doesn’t stop them, the rest of the listing doesn’t exist. The good news: a phone and a window are enough. Here are the six rules that matter most.
1. Daylight, next to a window
This is the change that makes the biggest difference, for nothing. Put the item near a window, during the day, out of direct sun, and switch off the flash and the lamps: colours stay true, and a buyer who receives exactly the colour they saw has no reason to be disappointed.
2. A plain, uncluttered background
A light wall, a plain sheet or a clean floor. Anything lying around in the frame (an unmade bed, a chair, laundry) pulls the eye away from the item and makes it look like a car boot sale rather than a well-kept wardrobe.
3. The first photo does all the work
It is the thumbnail in search results and in the feed. Show the whole item, straight, centred, in portrait format, with nothing cut off. Detail shots come after: their job is to convince someone who has already clicked.
4. Worn, when you can
A garment being worn shows the cut and the drape that a flat-lay can’t. You don’t need to show your face: a mirror shot framed below the shoulders is enough. Failing that, a hanger on a door beats a garment bundled up on the bed.
5. Labels, fabric and flaws in close-up
Photograph the brand label, the size label and the fabric label. And show the flaws, even small ones: a stain shown in a photo is a buyer who knew. A stain discovered on delivery is a dispute.
💡 A relisting tip: a listing put back online with exactly the same photo files looks like a duplicate. That is why Relisto slightly reframes every photo on each relist: the listing stays the same for the buyer, but the files are new.
6. Put your best photos back in front of buyers
Good photos are wasted if the listing is buried on page fifteen. Once your wardrobe is well photographed, Relisto regularly puts your unsold items back at the top of the results, one item at a time, at a human pace.
